Diet Soda: Really Better Than Usual?

Are you a fan of sweet drinks, including soda? Well, for fans of soda, one which is often the target is diet soda. It is believed that diet soda had higher levels of 'lighter' in sugar. Is it true?

Eating a diet soda is also done by people who are trying to lose weight, because it avoids the excess calories. However, studies conducted over 5 years Purdue University, revealed that diet sodas can actually make a person's weight increases.


The study warns, diet soda may be harmful to health, even more than just enlarging the size of the waist. The researchers revealed that diet soda actually increase the risk of developing diabetes, heart disease and having a stroke.


"Honestly I think that diet soda would be slightly better than regular soda in terms of health. But, in fact, diet soda has the opposite effect," said lead author of the study, who is also an expert in neuroscience and psychology, Professor Susan Swithers, quoted Dailymail.


Furthermore, this study reveals, no denial 'fake sugar' contains fewer calories. However, this study shows that low-calorie drinks or less sugar actually confuse the body when taken by mouth.


When diet soda drinkers consume sugar intake, their bodies do not know how to respond. After drinking enough soda, sweet tasting food does not trigger the release of natural hormones to regulate blood sugar.


This means that the blood sugar will drop, triggering hunger and desire to eat sweet foods. Beyond that, the diet soda will also affect the brain. Such as addiction, stimulation of the brain increases, thus causing you to eat more in order to achieve satisfaction.
